Academic Interests
My broad research interests are to improve outcomes for patients with venous thromboembolism (VTE) and other classical hematologic conditions. More specifically, I have worked to improve uptake of evidence-based recommendations for VTE prevention in the ambulatory cancer population. My prior work demonstrated low use/uptake of the guideline-based recommendations for VTE prevention, and evaluated barriers and facilitators to their use. My ongoing funded work aims to develop an optimal implementation strategy, both clinician and patient-facing, to improve uptake in the clinic of the evidence-based VTE prevention strategies in the oncology clinic.
At my prior institution, I served on the NCCN VTE prevention and treatment Guideline panel. In addition, I was a key leader in designing and starting a dedicated cancer-associated thrombosis clinic, to expedite consultation with thrombosis specialists to treat and manage cancer-associated thrombosis.
